America Online And Time Warner Team Up For Winter Goodwill Games Promotion

Another Cooperative Effort Between AOL And Time Warner Since Merger Announcement

DULLES, VA and ATLANTA, GA - February 15, 2000 - America Online, Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, and Time Warner announced today that they are teaming up for an extensive online promotional campaign for Time Warner's inaugural Winter Goodwill Games. The Winter Goodwill Games Opening Celebration is Wednesday, February 16, with competition scheduled from February 17-20 in Lake Placid, New York. The campaign, which begins today and runs the duration of the games, marks another cooperative effort between the two companies since the AOL/Time Warner merger was announced on January 10.

The Winter Goodwill Games will be extensively integrated and promoted across the AOL brands, including AOL, AOL.COM, CompuServe, ICQ, Netscape Netcenter, and AOL's Digital City, enabling tens of millions of sports fans to enjoy comprehensive, interactive coverage of the Winter Goodwill Games through the AOL family of interactive brands as well as the Goodwill Games Web site, goodwillgames.com. AOL's more than 21 million members will find a direct link to the Games at AOL Keyword: Goodwill Games.

Beginning today, the Winter Goodwill Games and links to goodwillgames.com will be featured throughout popular areas of the AOL service, including AOL's Sports and Women's Channels, as well as AOL's Welcome Screen. AOL Live, AOL's destination for live events and chat, will also feature online chats with Games athletes and newsmakers throughout the week. Additionally, AOL's Digital City will bring the excitement of the Games home with local features and news about hometown heroes and events.

"The Games represent one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world and we are pleased to work together with Time Warner at the start of many exciting cross-promotional initiatives. As the world's leading interactive community, AOL is proud to help bring athletes and fans around the world together," said Jonathan Sacks, Senior Vice President and General Manager of AOL Interactive Services.

"This strong and cohesive effort will be an excellent model for future events of all kinds," said Turner Sports President Mark Lazarus. "We're very proud that the Winter Goodwill Games will be a platform for promotional and branding opportunities for both AOL and the Games."

As the "preferred source" to access goodwillgames.com, AOL will receive significant branding through several initiatives, including: on-camera signage at the four Goodwill Games venues which are hosting the 11 sports being contested in Lake Placid, inclusion in appropriate Goodwill Games local and regional print advertising campaigns, and the opportunity to be a part of the goodwillgames.com 'Watch and Win' promotion sponsored by Chevy Trucks.

AOL will also be the presenting sponsor of the Goodwill Games Art Gallery in Lake Placid, which has free admission, and will have an interactive kiosk in the Art Gallery to showcase relevant and timely content available across the AOL brands.
