With Olympic track legends including Michael Johnson, Maurice Greene, Ato Boldon, Marion Jones, Tatiana Grigorieva and Jai Taurima confirmed to compete, tickets for the 2001 Goodwill Games Athletics meet will sell fast.

More than 450 of the world's top track and field athletes will compete for a record prize purse in a finals-only format at Brisbane's ANZ Stadium from Tuesday, September 4 to Friday, September 7.

The competition will consist of 44 events - 22 men's and 22 women's events. These include 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, mile, 3000m steeplechase, 5000m, 10,000m, 100m hurdles, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, high jump, long jump, pole vault, 20km walk, triple jump, discus, shot put, hammer, javelin, decathlon and heptathlon.

With its cut-throat, finals-only format, the Games are set to produce some hot athletics action. Invitations to compete are based on current world rankings and results from the 2000 Olympics, 2001 World Championships and other international competitions.
