Catch the Gods of Sport in Record Time
Central Queensland residents
are being encouraged to jump aboard a special 2001 Goodwill
Games-themed Tilt Train to catch the Gods of Sport in Brisbane
later this year.
Representatives from the
Goodwill Games and QR unveiled the new-look Tilt Train this
morning at Rockhampton Railway Station.
QR and the 2001 Goodwill
Games have joined forces to produce a series of special travel
packages for Central Queensland sports fans to ensure they
miss none of the action at the Goodwill Games.
2001 Goodwill Games Manager
Media and Public Relations Janet England said the Games were
a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the likes of Michael
Johnson, Marion Jones, Maurice Greene, Grant Hackett and Ian
Thorpe competing.
"Regional Queenslanders
are some of the most loyal sports fans in the country and
they will be richly rewarded with spectacular sports action
if they attend the 2001 Goodwill Games," Ms England said.
"And if you're not
a sports fan, then there is the Goodwill Games' exciting entertainment
program RED - paint the town.
"We have pulled together
a star-studded line up of talent to perform at our Opening
Gala on August 28, including The Corrs, Vanessa Amorosi, Debelah
Morgan, keith urban, Graeme Connors, Human Nature, David Campbell
and Leah Purcell.
"For the 12 days of
the Games Queenslanders will have a smorgasbord of world-class
athletes and entertainers right on their doorstep!"
Tickets to 2001 Goodwill
Games sport events and its Opening Gala are now on sale through
all Ticketek outlets nationwide. Tickets can also be purchased
by phone on 133 877 or via the Internet at www.ticketek.com
Ms England said free public
transport in the Brisbane metropolitan area was included in
the price of all tickets to Goodwill Games events.
"So when regional ticketholders
are travelling to their event, they don't need to worry about
navigating their way through traffic in an unfamiliar environment.
"Bus, rail and ferry
transport to Goodwill Games venues will be clearly signposted
for our regional, interstate and overseas visitors, so getting
to the games will be easy."
