Network Television (TNT) will present 83 hours of original
programming from the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia,
55 hours (66%) of which will be live, from August 28 - September
9. In addition to the 12 straight days of live coverage, TNT
will also air an additional 37 hours of encore performances,
giving the network a total of 120 hours of competition and
31 hours in prime time. Sister network CNN/Sports Illustrated
will re-air TNT's 5 - 8 a.m. morning show from August 29 -
September 8 at 2 - 5pm (ET), with the exception of Aug. 31
and Sept. 7 due to Nascar programming.
TNT will feature live event coverage of gymnastics,
figure skating, swimming and athletics most mornings with
extended blocks of competition from various venues throughout
Brisbane. The prime time and late night shows will incorporate
select live elements, extended coverage of events, athlete
features, in-depth interviews and highlights from the day's
competitions.
In addition to the television coverage on TNT,
results from the Goodwill Games will also be available almost
instantaneously via real-time scoring on www.goodwillgames.com.
The Goodwill Games, to be held August 28 - September
9, 2001, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, will feature
14 sports: athletics, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing,
cycling (track), diving, figure skating, gymnastics, rhythmic
gymnastics, swimming, trampoline, triathlon, weightlifting
and surf lifesaving.
