Mens Competition
Quarterfinals $38, $24 and $16
Twelve weight classes will be contested with athletes from the
worlds top amateur boxing powers from more than 20 countries, including: USA,
Cuba, Russia, Germany and Ireland. The tournament will be a head-to-head,
single elimination competition.
FORMAT:
- Single elimination tournament
- Eight athletes in 12 weight classes (96 total boxers)
- Gold, silver and two bronze medals will be awarded

HIGHLIGHTS OF BOXING AT THE GOODWILL GAMES
Boxing has been a part of the Games since their inception in 1986. Goodwill Games
alumni include Oscar de la Hoya, Roy Jones and Felix Savon.
- 1994: Perennial boxing powerhouses Cuba and Russia continued their dominance of
international competition by winning 11 of 12 weight classes. Cuba won six gold medals,
and Russia took five. The United States claimed the one remaining title.
- 1986: The Soviet Union won 11 of 12 gold medals, and American Arthur Johnson was
the only non-Soviet to claim a title.
