International wrestling powers Iran, Russia, Turkey and USA are heading to New York to battle in head-to-head competition at this summer’s Goodwill Games. The Games’ wrestling talent hits the mat on July 25 and 26 in the historic Theater at Madison Square Garden. Iran visits the U.S. for only their fifth time in the last 20 years when they come as a participant in the Goodwill Games.

• Freestyle dual meet tournament
• Four national teams
• Each team competes in a dual meet format against the other teams (eight weight classes)
• Three matches total per team

HIGHLIGHTS OF WRESTLING AT THE GOODWILL GAMES

• 1994: Russia took gold medals in six of the ten weight classes. Other gold medal winners include the United States (2), Turkey and Georgia.
• 1990: The United States won the team gold medal, and the Soviet Union took the silver.
• 1986: The United States won the gold medal, while Bulgaria took the silver, and the United States received the bronze.
