New York City Run For Goodwill
To Benefit Children

Sunday, July 19, will mark the commencement of the 1998 Goodwill Games and 15 days of exciting athletic competition and entertainment events. To mark this first day of athletic competition, the Goodwill Games will host the Run for Goodwill, bringing together both the world's most elite road racers and the general public to make this event a truly interactive experience for all participants.

The Run for Goodwill provides the public with the opportunities to compete for the first medal of the Goodwill Games and to test their endurance against the world's best athletes for top prizes. Moreover, the race will be organized by the world renowned New York Road Runners Club.

Prize money will be awarded to the top eight finishers and the first 3,000 registrants will receive free entry into the Global Pavilion.

Date:  Sunday, July 19, 1998

Start Time:  8:30 am

Start Location:  United Nations Plaza (43rd Street & First Avenue)

Distance:  Approximately 5 miles

Course:  UN Plaza at First Avenue & 43rd Street,South on First Avenue, make a left at 42nd Street onto the FDR drive and run south. Exit and finish on State Street.

Finish:  State Street (near Battery Park)

Kid's Race:  7 to 12 year olds will race on a 800m course.
