1999 World Champion Mogulist Ann Battelle to Hold Winter Goodwill Games Online Chat with CNNSI.com
World Champion Ann Battelle, a favorite in the Winter Goodwill Games moguls competition, will be featured in an online chat at 2 p.m. EDT Friday, October 1, on CNNSI.com. Battelle is second in a regular chat series on CNNSI.com, in which a Goodwill Games athlete will be featured every three weeks in the months leading up to the Games, and more frequently as the Games approach. Eric Bergoust kicked off the series when he chatted on September 10.
Battelle - a three-time Olympian who considered retirement right up to the start of the 1998-99 World Cup season - was honored with the Beck International Award on Sept. 18, 1999, USSA's highest athletic award, which is given each year to an athlete based on outstanding international performance. The '98 winner was Olympic and World Cup moguls champion Jonny Moseley.
The inaugural Winter Goodwill Games in Lake Placid, New York will run from February 17-20, 2000 (with an Opening Celebration on the 16th) and will highlight 11 exciting winter sports. Numerous Olympic and world champions will be vying for their share of a substantial prize and performance purse.
