Heaps of Tickets Remain
for Goodwill Games

Goodwill Games organisers have reassured there
are plenty of seats still up for grabs with more
than 265,000 tickets remaining for the August-September
sporting spectacular.
The news comes on the back of a
huge rush for tickets over the weekend, which
saw more than 120 tickets sold per minute during
the first few hours of trading on Friday.

By midday Monday,
more than 66,000 tickets had been sold or about 20 per
cent of total available seats.
Ticket sales remain strong, prompting
Ticketek to ensure additional resources are in place
to reduce waiting periods for patrons at their outlets
and through their call centres and Internet booking
line.

Rose stressed plenty of tickets were still available
to sessions in every sport, including swimming, basketball
and beach volleyball.
"We still have 80 per cent of our
tickets for sale,'' Mr Rose said.
"However, because tickets to all
events are selling so fast, we urge patrons to buy their
tickets early, so as to avoid disappointment.''
A breakdown of ticket sales sees athletics
as the most popular sport, with more than 20,000 tickets
sold, followed by Swimming, Beach Volleyball, Gymnastics
and Figure Skating.

However, more than 100,000 tickets
still remain for Athletics, which is being hosted
at the largest of all Goodwill Games venues; ANZ
Stadium.
Swimming, by comparison at Chandler
Aquatic Centre, is a much smaller stadium, with
only about 5000 seats available per session.
The affordability of Beach Volleyball
tickets, priced from $10 - $25, as well as the
calibre of contestants, explains the high interest
in the sport, which will be contested at South
Bank Piazza over 14 sessions from August 29 to
September 4.

On-line ticket sales have proved particularly
popular, with Ticketek recording its most successful
Internet ticket sales ever for a sporting event.
