Steve Woodward to Cover All Daily Activities in Brisbane for the 2001 Games

The column will change daily once the Games commence on Aug. 28 and will cover all aspects of the 2001 Goodwill Games - from the athletic competitions and opening gala celebration to the Games' concert series and Turner Network Television's original network programming. Woodward will cover breaking news from the Games, which will kick-off with the opening celebration on Aug. 28 and end on Sept. 9 with a figure skating exhibition.

Woodward's background in the Olympic movement and the world of multi-sport competitions is vast. His career began in 1982 at USA Today as the lead reporter on the athletes and issues shaping the Olympic movement. Woodward has covered five winter and summer Olympic Games and traveled to more than a dozen countries. In 1994, Woodward consulted one the of nation's largest public relations agencies, Cohn and Wolfe. He was the consulting producer and managing editor of the syndicated television series Road to U.S. Olympic Gold, and he was a member of the NBC sports writing team during the 2000 Olympics. He later worked in athlete career management, providing professional writing and speaking services for Olympic athletes. He co-authored two books with Olympic athletes, including a 1996 national bestseller with gold medalist gymnastics champion Dominique Moceanu. Currently, Woodward is a contributing writer for Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal, the acclaimed national weekly trade publication, for which he writes the Olympics update column.

In addition to Woodward's online column, www.goodwillgames.com will also feature exciting new elements. Real-time scoring reports will provide Web viewers with up-to-the-minute results. Promotional athlete QuickTimes, a gallery of photo and video clips, breaking news and a two-minute highlight piece featuring all the major events that will air on Turner Network Television that day will be prominently featured on the site.
