The 2001 Goodwill Games, held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, from Aug. 29 – Sept. 9, met or exceeded the expectations of Goodwill Games organizers and partners, officials announced today.

Steve Woodward to Cover All Daily Activities in Brisbane for the 2001 Games
Olympic historian, Steve Woodward will write an online column called "The Sights and Sounds of Brisbane" for the 2001 Goodwill Games, begining on Aug. 14. The column will change daily once the Games commence on Aug. 28 and will cover all aspects of the 2001 Goodwill Games - from the athletic competitions and opening gala celebration to the Games' concert series and Turner Network Television's original network programming. Woodward will cover breaking news from the Games, which will kick-off with the opening celebration on Aug. 28 and end on Sept. 9 with a figure skating exhibition.

General Mills has signed on as an official sponsor of the 2001 Goodwill Games, it was announced today by Goodwill Game officials. Subaru of America, Inc. has signed on as exclusive on-air import auto sponsor for the 2001 Goodwill Games, it was announced today by Goodwill Games officials.
