Jim Birrell pic

Jim Birrell is the Vice President of Operations for the Goodwill Games. As such, he is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the Games, including broadcast and technical services. Based in Atlanta, Jim reports to Goodwill Games President, Michael Plant.

Jim has been with the Games since 1996 and was the Director of TV/Technical Services for the 1998 Goodwill Games. He supervised and directed the Technical Services department and was the host broadcast and production liaison for the Games

Prior to joining the Goodwill Games, Birrell was Technical Director for Medalist Sports, a full-service sports marketing company operating premier cycling events, such as the Tour DuPont, Tour of China and the 1996 Olympic Trials. In this capacity, he was responsible for coordinating national television on-site communications, sound, construction and steel operations, course design, and police and public works interaction for the Tour DuPont.

Birrell has 12 years experience in Sports Management and Marketing, where he has worked events such as the 1996 Summer Olympics, 1992 Summer Olympics, 1994 Winter Olympics and 1994 Goodwill Games.

A native of Houston, TX, Birrell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Southwest Texas University.
