Richard (Rick) McNerney is the vice president of marketing for the Goodwill Games. As such, he is responsible for all aspects of marketing for the Goodwill Games - including the 2000 Winter Goodwill Games in Lake Placid and the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia.
McNerney has a solid background in sports and sports marketing. Before joining the Goodwill Games, he was the Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he oversaw the launch of the new team logo/emblems and the opening of the new Raymond James stadium. Prior to his work with the Buccaneers, he was the Director of Marketing for the ATP Tour from 1994-1996, where he was in charge of fan development for the men's tennis tour.
McNerney worked with the National Football League from 1990-1994. While there, he managed corporate sponsorship activity and then spent two years in the NFL International division, helping promote the NFL in Europe and Canada. The Chicago Bears gave McNerney get his start in sports management in 1988 as a marketing consultant.
McNerney received his M.B.A. in marketing from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1990 and his undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1982. Rick resides in Atlanta with his wife Susan and three children, Graham (9/92), Maggie (11/94) and Samantha (5/98).
