Closing Celebration

The Goodwill Games' Closing Celebration will take place during the evening of Sunday,
August 2, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Global Pavilion. The Celebration will
highlight the special moments left by the Goodwill Games on the New York community. While
the closing technically represents the end of the athletic competition, it also signifies
a rebirth of the Goodwill Games in terms of its global importance and new mission of
benefiting children in future iterations.
There will be live, acoustic/semi-acoustic musical performances by an array of Warner
Music Group artists that may include Trisha Yearwood, Children's Cultural Groups, as
well as appearances by athletes and celebrities. Video segments will be intricately woven
in live performances on stage to emotionally chronicle the Summer of Goodwill, and how its
occurrence has impacted children's lives.
The finale of the Closing event will feature Gerald Levin and Ted Turner, who, flanked
by top athletes, celebrities, and music performers, will comment on the larger purpose of
the Games: "to benefit children worldwide", and provide charitable partners with
their respective Goodwill Games contributions.
